Located in the more tranquil western side of the Isle of Wight (known locally as the West Wight) Ruskin Lodge in Freshwater Bay is ideally situated for walkers, cyclists and families. If you choose to travel to the Island by car there are several ferry departure points to the mainland. Ruskin Lodge is just two miles from the Lymington to Yarmouth crossing. For foot passengers there is a taxi rank and bus stop at the ferry terminal. Southern Vectis buses offer rover and freedom tickets with special rates for children and groups. There are three bus stops close to the house. Within the vicinity can be found a number of pubs and restaurants all within easy walking distance, the bay also has a local shop and post office.

 

Walking from Yarmouth to Freshwater Bay along the quiet estuary footpath is a very pleasant way to begin your stay on the Isle of Wight. For those guests wishing to explore the island on bicycles Ruskin Lodge can provide secure cycle storage. All guests are supplied with house and room keys allowing them access throughout the day.

 

  For guests with an interest in palaeontology the coast of the Island is world renowned for its fossils. Visitors have come from as far afield as the USA to search the fossil beds of Dinosaur Island.
